Two-time Copa America champions Chile could only play out a goalless draw at Ecuador as they failed to close the gap on the top three teams on the standings. The Chileans were hoping to bounce back from their home defeat to leaders Brazil last week with a win at third-placed Ecuador but they were unable to achieve victory at the end of the rescheduled matchday six clash as far as the South American section of Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers is concerned.

The pick of the other rescheduled matchday six games was the mammoth clash between hosts Brazil and Argentina. The match was abandoned after few minutes after Brazilian health officials invaded the pitch in a bid to stop four Argentine players from playing the game. The Argentina players namely Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, Tottenham Hotspur duo Cristian Romero and Giovanni Lo Celso plus Aston Villa playmaker Emiliano Buendia were accused of falsifying documents which claimed that they had been in the United Kingdom over the past 14 days.
While the game between Brazil and Argentina was suspended, three other rescheduled matchday six encounters took place on Sunday. Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde scored one of the goals as Uruguay beat Bolivia 4-2 at home in one of those three games. Also, Juventus player Juan Cuadrado scored for Colombia from the penalty spot eight minutes into the second half to cancel out the first half strike from Antonio Sanabria for hosts Paraguay as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw. Peru beat Venzeula 1-0 in the third and final of those three rescheduled matchday six games.
