The Copa America is the main international football competition from teams in South America and Chile is going to be preparing themselves with friendly matches against Iran and Brazil which are scheduled to take place on March 26 and 29 respectively.

The coach of the Chilean national side, Jorge Sampaoli has already revealed the players that will be participating in approaching friendly matches and his squad includes several players that are performing in top European Leagues including: Claudio Bravo, Mauricio Isla, Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez.

Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez are the players expected to be the main driving force behind the Chilean national side. Vidal has already demonstrated what he is capable of doing as the midfielder is one of the key figures in Juventus which helped the Italian club on securing 3 successive Serie A titles meanwhile Alexis Sanchez is also marking his name in Europe as he has scored 13 goals in 26 appearances for Arsenal in this season.

Chile made a very impressive campaign during the 2014 World Cup as the South American team managed to defeat Australia and Spain in the group stages which was enough for them to get into the Round of 16 which was where they faced off with Brazil and ultimately lost in a penalty session.

Jorge Sampaoli took charge of the Chilean national side in 2012 and has decided to extend his contract with the squad at least until the 2018; this was confirmed by the Argentinean coach as he announced his intention to stay on a long term basis.

“After meeting this morning with the president of ANFP and the FFCh (Chilean Football Federation), Mr Sergio Jadue, I wish to inform that I have taken the decision to remain in the position of technical director of the Chile national team and direct it to the 2015 Copa America in Chile, the Copa America’s centenary in 2016 in the United States and the qualifiers for Russia 2018, including our participation in such a World Cup.” This was a statement which was released by Jorge Sampaoli as he announced his desire to continue coaching the Chilean national team.
