MIKEL BLAMES SANCHEZ

Chelsea midfielder John obi Mikel has said that Chilean midfielder Alexis Sanchez was responsible for the red card for John Terry in the recent semi-final clash between the two clubs.

Chelsea were coming into the match with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg at Stamford Bridge, but they were facing an uphill task to defend Barcelona from scoring in the second leg. Things turned out extremely bad for Chelsea in the first half after they went a goal down to Sergio Busquets tap in, while John Terry was also sent off for the knee on Chilean midfielder Alexis Sanchez.

However, it is quite clear from the replays that Alexis Sanchez made the most out of the challenge from John Terry, which has led to suggestions from John obi Mikel that the Chilean was solely responsible for sending off John Terry. Even though it looked extremely bad after the sending-off because Chelsea conceded a second goal, but it allowed them to defend extremely deep in the second half after securing a vital away goal through Ramires just before the first half. Chelsea then made the impossible possible by qualifying for the second Champions League final by beating Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate.

“The JT one was soft from what I saw and it was a yellow card. I think Sanchez made the most of it. Alexis did the same to me as well. He got me yellow carded. There was a little touch and he rolled on the ground 10 times. He definitely made the most of it,” said John obi Mikel after the match. Chelsea will be missing for key players through suspension for the final against Bayern Munich. Raul Meireles, Ramires, and Branislav Ivanovic will be the players missing through suspensions as a result of yellow card, while John Terry will be missing due to the red card.
