Pizzi brands Alexis Sanchez as one of the world’s best

Chile manager Pizzi has lavished praise on winger Alexis Sanchez by claiming that he is one of the world’s best players.

Chile have been going from strength to strength in the last few years. After managing to win the Copa America in front of their home fans a few years ago, they went on to retain the title at the centenary edition in the United States.

They have also started the World Cup 2018 qualification campaign in strong fashion. A huge reason behind their good results has been presence of top players like Alexis Sanchez.

After spells with the likes of Udinese in Italy, Sanchez went on to the present Barcelona and he is now playing with Arsenal. One of the top performers at the Premier League club week in and week out, it is clear that his presence has helped the Chile become one of the top teams in South American football.

Brazil are top of the World Cup 2018 qualification group with 27 points, but Chile are not far behind with 20. Considering that the top four teams qualify for the World Cup automatically, Pizzi will not be too worried about qualification. Sanchez helped the Chile get their most recent three points after a brace against Uruguay.

“Individuals speak for themselves.Alexis is among the best players in the world.But I am more in favour of emphasising the strengths of the group. And it is what allowed us to turn the game,” said the Chile manager after the game. The next match will be very crucial for Chile as they are up against Argentina, who are seen as their main competitors in the World Cup qualification group, away from home. Argentina are only one point behind the Chile.
