10 matches have been played so far and Brazil is currently at the top with 21 points and Uruguay is following them closely behind with 20 points. Ecuador and Colombia have both secured 17 points while Argentina has the 5th spot with 16 points.
All of those nations previously mentioned have sealed the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position of the CONMEBOL and these are the spots that can earn a nation their qualification into the 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup.
Things have not been going as impressive for Chile as they are sitting at the 7th position and there are 6 qualifying matches remaining which is enough time for the Chilean national side to start collecting points at a steady pace and climb a few spots in the CONMEBOL group.
The Chilean national side is looking to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the 3rd successive time but have found it fairly difficult as they have won 4 matches, drawn 2 and lost 4 games out of their 10 opening encounters of the qualification stages.
The next qualifying match of Chile is scheduled to take place on November 10 as the team of Juan Antonio Pizzi faces off with Colombia and 5 days after this match, Chile will be locking horns with Uruguay.
It’s hugely important for Chile to pick up points in both of these matches as it will keep their hopes of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup for the 3rd time as a realistic accomplishment.
