Sanchez Reveals 2-2 Draw Was Perfect

Barcelona striker Alexis Sanchez has revealed that the 2-2 draw between archrivals Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid is the perfect result for the Catalan club. The El Clasico is set to arrive in Spain in the next few weeks, but Barcelona were at a significant disadvantage in recent weeks after dropping points to both Madrid teams. There are three teams involved in the Spanish league title race this campaign with Barcelona having dropped a significant number of points in the last few matches.

They had a six-point advantage over Real Madrid during Christmas, but it has now been transformed into a four-point deficit.

This 2-2 draw for Madrid means that two of the three teams involved in the title race have dropped points and it allows Barcelona to move closer to the top of the table. Sanchez, who has been in fine form this campaign, says that Barcelona will be looking to carry this advantage over the next few weeks of the campaign. After an indifferent first season at the club, Sanchez has proved to be more than capable replacement for Lionel Messi, who missed much of the first half. He has scored 17 goals in just 26 appearances in the league.

Apart from the league, Barcelona also have the last 16 Champions League match against Manchester City to worry about.

“The result from the Madrid derby was very good for us, but the most important thing is that we did our own job well. We secured three more points and now we’re just one behind Real Madrid. We have to try and get the top spot of the table back as soon as possible,” said the Chilean, who also recently expressed his desire to overcome Ronaldo as one of the club’s finest strikers. Even though he played at Barcelona only for a short time, Ronaldo is hugely praised for his achievements.
