CHILE FORWARD JOINS INTER MILAN

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has joined Italian side Inter Milan on a season-long loan according to the club. Sanchez had been speculated by the media to be on his way out of the club all summer after falling down the pecking order last season.

The 29-year-old forward was part of the transfer swap in 2018 that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to Arsenal. However his stay at United has been far from ideal with the forward failing to recapture the form he showed at the Emirates.

The departure of Jose Mourinho last season appeared to be the right tonic for the Chilean forward but he never seemed to pick up form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

His departure from United has raised eyebrows given that Anthony Martial is currently injured leaving the club short of numbers in the attack. Solskjaer will have to make do with academy product Mason Greenwood and Daniel James in the wide positions.

Spanish midfielder Juan Mata is also an option from the bench as he brings more creativity than the aforementioned duo. Meanwhile the arrival of Sanchez at Inter means that the club has effectively replaced Croatia ace Ivan Perisic who joined Bayern Munich on loan last month.

Sanchez has prior stint at Italy with Udinese where he won the player of the year before making his big-money move to Barcelona. United are thought to be looking to lighten their wage bill and consented to the loan move with Inter Milan paying half of his wages.

Inter Milan with this signing looks like the team which will give Juventus a run for the title this season after the earlier acquisition of Romelu Lukaku. Manager Antonio Conte is known for his title-winning nous and it will be interesting to see how both United rejects fare under his tutelage.
