CHILE WIN AGAIN

Chile managed to win the second consecutive game after the arrival of the new manager Jorge Sampaoli when they won 2-1 against a strong Egypt side.

Chile recently brought in the manager Jorge Sampaoli after a poor run of results that left their aspirations to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in tatters. Since his arrival, Sampaoli has been in charge of the team two matches. He opened his account with the national team in a 3-0 win over Haiti. It was an impressive result, but his team faced strong opposition in the form of Egypt in a friendly match.

It was billed as the biggest test for Sampaoli since taking over a few months ago. He has managed to build on his solid reputation by managing a 2-1 win over Egypt. After a first half without any goals, Chile managed to take the lead through Vargas in the 60th minute. Carmona doubled the advantage of the South Americans 6 min later. However, a late goal from Egypt threatened to destroy the perfect start made by Sampaoli, but the team held on to register the second victory. As a result of this win, confidence is extremely high within the Chile team that will be playing in a World Cup qualifying match against Peru in March.

Next month will see Chile taken on Peru and Uruguay in the space of four days that will determine their progression to the FIFA World Cup. Under the previous regime, the team had been an extremely poor run of form that had seen them go without a victory in more than five matches. The friendly match between Chile and Egypt took place at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Spain. Egypt dominated the early proceedings, but Chile were able to come out of the match with a positive result.
