MC heavy Reliance on Aguero for Goals
Manchester City have showed an over reliance on striker Sergio Aguero in the first few months of the season. The former Atletico Madrid has been in sparkling form and he has scored 12 goals in the league so far. This is two better than his nearest competitor, Diego Costa, and a huge distance away from the likes of Robin van Persie. He once again delivered the goods in the 2-2 draw against QPR on Saturday. The result was once again a poor one for Manuel Pellegrini’s men, as they fell 8 points behind leaders Chelsea after 11 matches.

Even though Aguero has been good, City have been unable to get much out of other players like Yaya Touré and Edin Dzeko. These players contributed a lot towards the title success last season, but this has not been the case in this campaign.
Touré, especially, has been struggling with form. Dzeko came on in the second half and did not last five minutes after suffering an injury. He is likely to be out for a considerable period, which puts more pressure on Aguero. Defender Bacary Sagna, who started the match against QPR ahead of Pablo Zabaleta, says that the club should find goals from other players too.
“We all need to rise up – we are all good players. There is a reason we play for City. We want to show everyone we can play for this team and succeed. We have plenty of games left and we want to keep our heads up. As long as Sergio scores, that is good, but we have a lot of good players who can do it.
He is the one who changed the game. He scored twice – but we have many players who can do it. As long as he keeps pulling the team up, and we want to show we can raise our game and succeed,” said Sagna.
