SAMPAOLI TAKES OVER

Chile have recently appointed Jorge Sampaoli as the new manager of the national team. His work will be beginning with the matches against Haiti and Senegal. The manager has named up the squad that will be taking part in these friendly matches, and it is largely composed of the domestic based players.

CHILE SACK BOSS

The Chilean national football team has decided to part ways with the manager Claudio Borghi after a run of poor results, which has left the team struggling to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The team has lost the last five matches without exception including the friendly match against Serbia.

BORGHI WILL NOT RESIGN

The Chilean national team manager Claudio Borghi has said that he will not resign from his position as the national team manager, despite being coming under intense criticism for a poor run of results in recent matches.

Claudio Borghi took over from the current Athletic Bilbao manager Marcelo Bielsa, who had worked wonders with the national team prior to his resignation. Marcelo Bielsa resigned from the national team on the account of falling out with the new board. He had taken the Chilean team to the second round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

BORGHI BACKS VIDAl

The Chilean national team manager Claudio Borghi has said that he is likely to use the Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal in a defensive position when Chile take on Columbia in the World Cup qualifying match. The 25-year-old Arturo Vidal is regarded as one of the best players within the team.

MEDIA SHOULD LOOK AT RESULTS

The Chilean national team manager Claudio Borghi has said that the national media should be having a look at the results after praising former coach Marcelo Bielsa for the success of the national team in the last few matches.

Marcelo Bielsa is regarded as one of the best managers when it comes to national teams. He has been able to get the Chilean national team to great heights under his regime. He is currently the manager of Spanish club Athletic Bilbao, whom he has been able to take to the Europa league and Copa del Ray final this season.

MIKEL BLAMES SANCHEZ

Chelsea midfielder John obi Mikel has said that Chilean midfielder Alexis Sanchez was responsible for the red card for John Terry in the recent semi-final clash between the two clubs.

Chelsea were coming into the match with a 1-0 advantage from the first leg at Stamford Bridge, but they were facing an uphill task to defend Barcelona from scoring in the second leg. Things turned out extremely bad for Chelsea in the first half after they went a goal down to Sergio Busquets tap in, while John Terry was also sent off for the knee on Chilean midfielder Alexis Sanchez.

CHILE HAPPY WITH DRAW

The Chilean football Federation would have been extremely happy with the 1-1 draw their national team achieved recently against Ghana in a friendly match.

The recently concluded international friendly matches have brought in a number of mixed results. This includes the defeat of the 2006 world champions Italy by the United States national football team.

ISLA SET FOR ENGLAND

English Premier League giants Liverpool Football Club have been alerted by the comments of Chile National Football Team star Mauricio Isla who recently commented that he will leave Italian club Udinese at the end of the season.

The 23 year old midfielder has been linked with plenty of clubs throughout the last year and a half including current English Premier League champions Manchester United as well as Italian giants Juventus but it seems that only Liverpool are at the moment monitoring his situation and are ready to pounce for the player come the end of the season.
