Alexis Sanchez returned to the Chile national team after a gap of 7 months. It was indeed a much-anticipated comeback and certainly worked out to be beneficial for Chile as they achieved victory on 16th October. Chile defeated Mexico with a final-gasp goal in a friendly match with the Manchester United man in Queretaro who was playing for complete 90 minutes. Well, the man played for the last time for his country in the month of March prior to missing the 6 subsequent matches. Every match was friendlies against the side which included Peru, Serbia, and Poland.
Felipe Gutierrez, the midfielder from the Sporting Kansas City is all set to join Chile National Team next week to take part in the international friendlies against Mexico and Peru. This was the announcement made by the Football Federation of Chile. Reinaldo Rueda, the head coach of Chile has named the midfielder in the 24 man roster while La Roja gets prepared to face Peru in 12th October at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami prior to his visit to Mexico in 16th October in Queretaro. Before joining Chile, the SKC midfielder would be available for selection while Sports Kansas City organizes the LA Galaxy in a much-awaited Western Conference at Children Mercy Park. The game would take place in the evening with some live coverage on TV.
Manchester United striker Alexis Sanchez wants to see some improvement in the Chile team. He said that it was a disappointment to have missed the last World Cup in Russia and that he wants to see some changes in the national team.
Chile international Alexis Sanchez has stressed that he does not regret leaving Arsenal for Manchester United during the winter transfer window. The 29-year-old was initially tipped to leave the Gunners for Manchester City in January but in a strange change of events, the attacker moved to Old Trafford in a straight swap agreement involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Chile national team coach Reinaldo Rueda claims that goalkeeper Claudio Bravo will make a return to the national team fold if his performances show a major improvement. The Manchester City goalkeeper has been struggling to get back into the national team after losing his place and you do a string of poor performances for City.
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has come in the defence of Alexis Sanchez amid speculation that the Red Devils’ hierarchy are regretting the Chilean’s arrival at Old Trafford. The 29-year-old made the surprise switch to Jose Mourinho’s side last month after they agreed on a swap deal with Arsenal which involved Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Since then, Sanchez has not been in the best of form for United with just one goal and two assists to his name, and this has spread rumours of the club’s board being discontent with the signing. Despite this, Giggs spoke positively about the Chile international, and believes the attacker will improve on his performance levels once his teammates start adapting to his style of play.

Chile have confirmed that Reinaldo Rueda has been appointed as the new coach of the national team. Chile were able to enjoy a lot of success in the Copa America competitions of late, but the team had a major disappointment after failing to reach the World Cup 2018. The outcome resulted in the exit of Antonio Pizzi, who offered his resignation after the failure to reach the World Cup 2018. Chilean national team were under no pressure to get a quick replacement and they have taken their time over this appointment. Rueda comes in with a lot of experience of coaching South American national teams. He has been involved in coaching the likes of Honduras, Columbia, and Ecuador.
Most recently, he has been taking up club jobs and has been in charge of Atlético Nacional and Flamengo. He has just returned to national team management after a gap of almost 4 years. He has achieved tremendous success during his time at Atlético Nacional after managing to win the likes of the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Colombia. In terms of the managerial roles at the national team levels, Rueda has enjoyed his biggest success with Honduras after winning 31 out of the 53 games in charge of the team. This translates into a winning percentage of 58 – a significant jump compared to his record at Ecuador of 38%.

Key Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal has changed his mind on his initial decision to quit international football after his country failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia next year when they lost 3-0 to Brazil.
It was a major shock to see the back-to-back Copa America winners crash out at this stage and Vidal initially took it very badly. After the defeat he took to Twitter when it looked as though he was saying farewell to the national side writing that his ‘soul had been crushed’. (more…)
